Can the Kings Make a Trade For Ben Simmons or Domantas Sabonis?

Teams have still been in talks with Indiana about all three talents, but Myles Turner now being out indefinitely changes things for the Pacers as an organization. Turner suffered a left foot injury that the team is calling a “stress reaction” and he is expected to be sidelined through February 10, the date of this season’s trade deadline.

Not only does Turner’s injury now put more trade attention on LeVert and Sabonis, but the Pacers seem to value Domantas Sabonis very highly and rightfully so. Now in his 6th season in the league, Domantas Sabonis is a two-time All-Star, one of the better offensive rebounders in the league and is only 25-years-old.

If the Kings truly want to target Domantas Sabonis and go “all-in” after him, then they will need to be willing to offer up some of their best assets in return. This would take at least two first-round picks and quite possibly talents like Tyrese Haliburton and someone like Buddy Hield or Harrison Barnes, if not De’Aaron Fox straight-up.

What the Sacramento Kings decide to do in regards to trade talks with the 76ers for Ben Simmons and the Pacers for Domantas Sabonis remains a big question mark, but it would not be surprising to see the Kings strike out on both All-Stars.

For years now, Sacramento has failed as an organization in building a sustainable core because they are so quick to give up on the young assets that actually find success on the floor.

Trading De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton would just prolong what has been a 16-year cycle of disappointment for this franchise, which is why it is much more likely that they will look to move on from any combination of Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III instead.
