The Los Angeles Lakers picked up one of their most impressive victories of the 2021-22 NBA Season on Monday night, defeating the Utah Jazz 101-95. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lakers, but any positivity that can be taken from a win like that was quickly sapped.

It is being reported that head coach Frank Vogel is on the hot seat in Los Angeles. His job is in serious jeopardy and the win over the Jazz very well could have saved him for the time being.

Los Angeles is struggling this season as they are in seventh place in the Western Conference with a record of 22-22. They have had to constantly juggle their rotation this season because of injuries and players entering the health and safety protocols.

Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony are the only two players to appear in all 44 games this season and are also the only two players to not miss at least five games. It is hard to build chemistry and cohesion when players are in and out of the lineup that frequently, especially when you are trying to work in double-digit new players.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Talen Horton-Tucker are the only holdovers from last season’s Laker team to this season. Despite that, it sounds like Frank Vogel may not make it through the remainder of the season as the team’s head coach.

According to The Athletic, Vogel’s job is being evaluated every day. Should the team not start building some positive momentum, he will be shown the door.

Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel’s job is in serious jeopardy with the team seventh in the Western Conference through 44 games, sources told The Athletic. Vogel is being evaluated on a game-to-game basis and is at risk of being fired if progress doesn’t continue after Monday’s win over the Utah Jazz, sources said.

Firing Vogel likely isn’t going to help the Lakers much this season. Who would be coming in to replace him that could get more out of this current team? David Fizdale didn’t find much success when he filled in for Vogel during his time away from the team for being in the league’s health and safety protocols.

This roster, as currently constructed, just isn’t a contending one. James is playing at an all-world level once again, but the rest of the roster has failed to consistently step up throughout the season.

If the Los Angeles Lakers want any hope of turning things around, they need to start building on whatever chemistry that they have. Bringing in a new head coach midseason and kind of starting over would bring them back closer to square one.
