Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?

Adding a talent like Marcus Morris Sr. makes sense in regards to the Chicago Bulls pursuit of winning the Eastern Conference this season, but his contract is probably not one they want to be tied down to long-term.

Morris is not only owed $15.6M this season, pushing the Bulls closer to being over the tax line this season, but he is guaranteed to be paid $49.1M through the 2023-24 season.

Chicago needs to do their best to surround LaVine, DeRozan and Vucevic with capable scorers and championship-level role players, but there are definitely better, cheaper targets for the Bulls at the trade deadline this season.

Not to mention, Coby White is a very valuable asset for the Bulls and if they are to trade him, they better be getting someone better than Marcus Morris.

Jerami Grant remains a possibility for the Bulls to pursue ahead of the deadline and White could be key in terms of them having a shot at landing the Pistons’ forward. If all else fails in trade talks, maybe the Bulls should go after Marcus Morris, but he is definitely not the guy they should have at the top of their “wants” list at the trade deadline this season.
