Jerami Grant Could Be Moved Via Trade
Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that both Grant and Olynyk have received interest in trade talks around the league over the last few weeks and various playoff contenders recently inquired about them this past weekend.
In free agency last year, Jerami Grant and the Pistons agreed to a three-year, $60M deal that he immediately began to outperform. Being the “star” of his team for the first-time ever, Grant quickly cemented himself as one of the most improved players in the entire NBA after averaging 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and shooting 42.9% from the floor, 35% from three-point range last season.
Continuing to be an impact performer on both ends of the court as a combo-forward this season, Jerami Grant’s trade value continues to peak, but he is currently out with a thumb injury. Grant had successful surgery on December 16 to repair the UCL ligament in his right thumb and he has been out since.
On Monday, the Pistons announced that Grant was assigned to the Motor City Cruise, the team’s NBA G League affiliate, moving him closer to a potential return to the floor. There are no long-term concerns about Jerami Grant’s thumb and he should be ready to return to action before the end of January.

Expected to be one of the most sought after trade targets ahead of the trade deadline this season, the Pistons face a big question on whether or not they should trade their best player.
Jerami Grant has been a key contributor for them since last season, but having just one more year left on his contract, it is hard to imagine that Grant will want to stay in Detroit long-term, especially since they are going to be rebuilding for a few more years to come.

Capitalizing on his trade value now before he becomes a free agent is something that does make sense for the Detroit Pistons, so it will be interesting to see if they actually pull-the-trigger on a trade involving Jerami Grant this season.
