Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Daryl Morey wants to get an All-Star in return for Ben Simmons, but that reality is becoming less and less likely as time goes on. However, Morey would be getting a potential All-Star in Collin Sexton, as well as two quality rotational pieces.
Last year, Sexton put up All-Star-caliber numbers for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and when paired alongside an elite big man like Joel Embiid, could do that once again. He’s a great scorer and threat on the perimeter, which fits the mold of what Philadelphia should want to put around Embiid.
Ricky Rubio would be a very underrated piece for the Sixers, too. His ability to control the game and provide some veteran leadership would be huge. Putting the ball in Rubio’s hands would help the Sixers’ offense run smoothly.
Lastly, Lauri Markkanen is a solid forward option. As mentioned, he’s revived his career a bit in Cleveland by playing solid defense. He may not be the most efficient shooter, but just like Sexton, playing alongside Embiid could open up opportunities for him.

This definitely isn’t the perfect package. In fact, it’s probably pretty far off from what Morey wants to get in return for Simmons. But if the market dries up a ton, then he might have to settle for a deal like this one. At least the Philadelphia 76ers would get players willing to be there.
