The Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons are no closer to a resolution now than they were at the beginning of the 2021-22 NBA season. The two sides met but no progress was made, as Simmons still is a long way from returning to the court and the 76ers are still holding out hope that when he does return, it will be to play for them.
As it has always seemed, a trade feels inevitable. But, even that has its issues as Philadelphia is dead set on acquiring an impact player in return, and rightfully so. They have played relatively well this season so they are in no rush to trade Simmons just to make a deal and appease him.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching, could we see their stance change? Or maybe a team gets desperate enough to shake up their roster and reaches out to the 76ers with an offer they like.
There are a few teams that could still remain in the market for Simmons. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs would still all make some sense as a landing spot. Could the Orlando Magic be a dark horse?
