Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Jerami Grant, F John Collins, G Cory Joseph, ATL 2023 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected), ATL 2024 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to PHI)
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Danilo Gallinari, G Jaden Springer, CHA 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-18 Protected), ATL 2023 2nd Round Pick

The Philadelphia 76ers’ front-office and Daryl Morey have remained adamant on the fact that they are wanting an All-Star-level talent in return for Ben Simmons, but it is hard to imagine that they are going to get this at the trade deadline this season.

Damian Lillard is a name that keeps coming up time-and-time again for what the 76ers are looking for, but after having surgery to repair a lingering abdominal injury Lillard seems like he is going to be staying put in Portland. Bradley Beal is not available from the Washington Wizards either, so the only way the 76ers can trade Ben Simmons this season is if they lower their asking price slightly.

Obviously getting an All-Star-level talent in return for Simmons makes sense seeing as he himself is a three-time All-Star and two-time All-Defensive player, but both John Collins and Jerami Grant are high-level talents that can be key talents to a championship-caliber team like the Sixers.

Jerami Grant is one of the biggest names available on the trade market right now and the Pistons seem very willing to talk about trades with him right now. After signing a three-year, $60M deal last season with Detroit, Grant has really broken out and become a two-way stud as a combo-forward.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Does Cam Reddish Trade Impact Hawks’ Pursuit Of Ben Simmons?

In 78 career games with the Pistons, Jerami Grant has averaged 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and has shot 42.5% from the floor, making a potential return to Philadelphia very intriguing for the 76ers as a whole.

As for John Collins, his fit in Philadelphia is a little questionable given that they have Tobias Harris at the power-forward spot, but there have been talks recently about the 76ers wanting to include Harris in a potential trade involving Ben Simmons.

If this is true and the Sixers are willing to move on from Harris, this trade could wind up being the framework for the 76ers to trade Tobias Harris soon after. They would be getting enough draft compensation from Atlanta and a veteran guard in Cory Joseph to possibly package together with Harris in another trade at the deadline.

The Atlanta Hawks are gearing up for some kind of a big move and Ben Simmons seems to be the only All-Star name to pop up on their radar recently. Given the success Trae Young finds in pick-and-roll sets, Simmons could be an excellent complimentary All-Star next to Young and could wind up finding a lot of success on a Hawks team that needs help defensively.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Does Cam Reddish Trade Impact Hawks’ Pursuit Of Ben Simmons?

Danny Green is also an interesting addition for the Hawks in this trade given that they just traded away Cam Reddish. De’Andre Hunter is working his way back from injury, but Atlanta could definitely use a veteran “3-and-D” type player like Green.

As for the Detroit Pistons, they are still rebuilding right now and should be willing to take on the contract of Danilo Gallinari should they get a handful of future assets in return. Jaden Springer was just drafted in the first-round this year, giving the Pistons another young backcourt piece to build with and should Charlotte’s first-round pick fall outside the Top-18 this season, the Pistons would have a first-round pick to add another prospect with.

All three teams included in this trade have something to gain from one another and while it is a long-shot to believe that the Philadelphia 76ers would lower their asking price after all these months of not doing so, John Collins and Jerami Grant could be the key to them turning themselves into a true championship threat.
