The New York Knicks are just 21-21 this NBA season and with them looking to get back to the playoffs, they found themselves a part of the season’s first meaningful trade. On Thursday, the Knicks agreed to a trade with the Hawks, sending Kevin Knox and Charlotte’s heavily protected 2022 first-round pick to Atlanta for Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick.

It is not surprising to see the Knicks go after more two-way talent on the wing, especially since they have been struggling on both offense and defense. Cam Reddish is someone that really emerged as a trade target over the last few weeks for the Knicks and the Hawks have been receptive to trade offers for him.

Ever since the 2021 NBA Draft, Cam Reddish has found himself on the trade block and it was just a matter of time before the Hawks dealt with. After committing over $300M to Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, John Collins and Clint Capela in the offseason, the Hawks were left with little cap room moving forward, making it almost impossible for them to extend the contracts of both De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish next offseason.

By trading Reddish now, the Hawks save themselves a couple million dollars in the short-term, as well as open the door for the possibility of a bigger trade to add more talent to their playoff hopeful roster.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Knicks Could Trade For Caris LeVert After Cam Reddish Deal

Not only is Cam Reddish someone the Knicks can count on for immediate scoring off-the-bench, but he himself is only 22-years-old and worth the gamble. The worst thing that happens for New York in this deal is that Reddish becomes a restricted free agent following the 2022-23 season and the Knicks lose out on a first-round pick that was not theirs to begin with.

This was a fantastic trade for the Knicks, but the work is not done for this organization leading up to the trade deadline. Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett and the rest of this roster really does need more help if they are to rekindle some of the success they found as the 4-seed in the Eastern Conference last season, which is why someone like Caris LeVert could still be on the Knicks’ radar.

The Pacers are struggling in the Eastern Conference this season and are just 15-27, which has sparked rumors about a potential rebuild process being on the horizon. Indiana may not tear down everything they have built, but Myles Turner and Caris LeVert are both very much available in trade talks leading up to the deadline.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Knicks Could Trade For Caris LeVert After Cam Reddish Deal

Cam Reddish solves some problems on the wing for the Knicks, but they could still use another key scorer on the wing that can take pressure off of Randle to have to do everything on offense for this team.

There are fans of Caris Levert within the Knicks’ front-office and along with the Cavaliers, the Knicks have been in contact with the Pacers recently about a potential LeVert trade. So could New York pull off another big upgrade ahead of the trade deadline by adding Caris LeVert?
