Would this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
For the Charlotte Hornets, this would be a no-brainer. As much as he’s struggled on the offensive end this year, Anthony Davis is still a top-20 player in the NBA at his peak. Putting that sort of talent next to LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges would make them a perennial playoff threat for years to come.
Davis is an elite defender, and he alone would be able to patch up the majority of Charlotte’s defensive woes. He’d also be the answer for them at the big man position. Although, he does prefer to play power forward, so they may have to find a center still.
Putting him next to Ball and Bridges would create one of the most exciting big threes in the league. With Ball’s playmaking and shooting, Bridges’ driving ability, and Davis’ all-around offensive dominance in the paint, they’d have it all.
Perhaps the best part about this trade for Charlotte, though, is that they wouldn’t be giving up a lot of their youth. PJ Washington would be headed out, but they’d still retain Ball, Bridges, James Bouknight, Kai Jones, Cody Martin, and Jalen McDaniels. That’s huge.

Luckily for Charlotte, those aren’t the type of players the Los Angeles Lakers would be interested in. Maybe they’d have to give up Terry Rozier, too, but even then this would probably still be worth it. Getting a talent as elite as Anthony Davis to pair alongside Ball and Bridges would be a franchise-altering move.
