Washington Wizards Look To Make Playoff Push

Washington Wizards Receive: F Jerami Grant, F Josh Jackson
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Davis Bertans, C Thomas Bryant, F Deni Avdija, WAS 2025 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected)

Shams Charania named the Washington Wizards as one of the team’s to show interest in Jerami Grant and they can definitely pull off a trade for him given all of their young assets.

Not only are Kyle Kuzma and Rui Hachimura two young talents that could be of interest to the Pistons, but Thomas Bryant and Deni Avdija are also two talents that Detroit could utilize right away.

With Kelly Olynyk out and his status in Detroit being in question, the Pistons are going to need someone in the frontcourt next to Isaiah Stewart. While he is still on the mend from ACL surgery, Thomas Bryant has proven to be an impactful big man in this league, averaging 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and shooting 60% from the floor in 143 career games.

As for Deni Avdija, he is someone the Pistons looked at during the 2020 NBA Draft process and really liked in terms of his long-term potential. Standing 6’9” on the wing, Avdija shows promise as a shooter, ball-handler and someone who could possibly turn into a factor defensively as well at either forward position.

His playing time has been sporadic early on in his career with the Wizards, but in Detroit, Avdija could immediately see 25-30 minutes per game and be someone that veterans Trey Lyles and Kelly Olynyk take under their wings as a stretch big man.

Davis Bertans is nothing more than a salary-filler in this trade given that he is owed $16M this season and under contract long-term, but he is also someone the Pistons could utilize given his three-point shooting abilities.

The Wizards need more talent if they are to not only be a threat in the postseason, but if they are to keep Bradley Beal long-term. There has been heavy speculation over the years that Beal is going to leave Washington shortly after receiving his super-max extension this upcoming offseason, which is why the Wizards need to try and do a better job of surrounding him with winning talents.

Kyle Kuzma and Spencer Dinwiddie have helped make Washington’s case stronger, but adding Jerami Grant and possibly extending him long-term with Beal could be enough to keep the All-Star shooting guard with the Wizards for a while longer.
