Jerami Grant – Detroit Pistons

The only thing the Detroit Pistons are contending for this season is draft position for 2022. The Pistons are currently 8-30 and while they are competitive, this team is not going to be moving up the standings any further than 14th in the Eastern Conference.

With the Pistons continuing to rebuild with young talents like Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and others, all the attention for this franchise has shifted towards Jerami Grant and what the future holds for him

Kelly Olynyk is another veteran this team could trade at the trade deadline this season, but Grant is drawing heavy interest from various playoff contending teams across the NBA.

While he is currently out with a thumb injury and will not return until sometime near the end of the month, Jerami Grant has been a revelation in Detroit and has quickly turned himself into one of the better two-way forwards in the entire league.

Since joining Detroit ahead of last season, Grant has averaged 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and has shot 42.5% from the floor while also making a difference on defense.

The Pistons do not necessarily want to trade him, but there is some concern within this organization about whether or not they will be able to keep him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason in 2023.

Leveraging Jerami Grant right now could bring a grand return to Detroit, one that could set them up for even more future success with Cade Cunningham as the face of their franchise.

Jerami Grant has played really well with the Pistons, but it definitely makes more sense for them to want to trade him right now as opposed to waiting while he is in the final year of his contract.

The 27-year-old’s value is never going to be better than it currently is and it is likely that the Pistons could receive a young talent or two, as well as multiple first-round draft picks for him.
