The Atlanta Hawks are just 17-22 to this point in the season, about seven months after they reached their first Eastern Conference Finals since 2015.
Trae Young is still an All-Star for this team and will likely be named an All-Star for the second consecutive season, but the Hawks have really struggled defensively.
As a team, Atlanta ranks 28th in defensive rating, which is why they are a prime candidate to make some roster changes ahead of the deadline. However, they are very pressed for cap space after extending the contracts of Traae Young, Clint Caplea, John Collins and Kevin Huerter.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, not only will the team look to shop veteran Danilo Gallinari, who has $41.9M remaining on his contract through next season, but 22-year-old wing Cam Reddish as well.

There were talks of Reddish being available via trade ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft this past offseason, but no real trade for him ever materialized. The former 10th overall pick in 2019 has been having a breakout season and could be on the move as a salary relief move by the Hawks.
Both Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter will be extension-eligible this upcoming offseason, which is why the Hawks could look to get value for Reddish in a trade right now.
Now in his third season in the NBA, Cam Reddish is having his best season as a pro, averaging 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and shooting 37.9% from three-point range.
There are several teams around the league that could be looking to upgrade their depth on the wing and Cam Reddish is certainly someone they will take a long look at. Owed just $4.6M this season and then $5.9M next season in the final year of his rookie contract, Reddish is certainly a valuable asset on the trade block right now.

In an effort to get better defensively, the Hawks are going to look to leverage Cam Reddish in trade talks at the trade deadline, which is why it is very likely that he will be on the move. Danilo Gallinari and even Bogdan Bogdanovic hold little value right now given their contracts, which is why trading away Reddish could be one of the only moves Atlanta can make to upgrade the talent they currently have on their roster.
