The Golden State Warriors have put together a highly impressive start to the 2021-22 season. The 28-7 record they have posted through 35 games is the best in the NBA. Soon, they are going to get Klay Thompson back into the lineup—making them all the more scary of a team.

Thompson will return to game action for the Golden State Warriors on Sunday when the team takes on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“I hate to use the phrase ‘can’t wait’ because I love to be present in my life,” Thompson said in a statement. “But I cannot wait to play in front of our fans again. I really, really enjoy being a Warrior.”

For Thompson to enter the starting lineup, someone will need to move to the bench. Given how impressive of a season Andre Wiggins is having, Jordan Poole appears to be the most likely and logical choice to move to a sixth man role.

The Warriors will not only become a more dynamic unit once again in the starting five, but they will have an even deeper bench with Poole being added to the group.

Thompson has been sidelined for the previous two full seasons. He last played during the 2019 NBA Finals where he suffered a torn ACL. During his recovery from that injury, he suffered a torn Achilles in an offseason open run right before the 2020 NBA Draft.

During the last season Klay Thompson was playing for the Golden State Warriors, he averaged an impressive 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc on 7.7 attempts per game.

Having a player capable of such production on an already elite team will be fascinating to see. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are each playing at an incredible level while the team has no shortage of intriguing complementary talent in the supporting cast.
