Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
Cam Reddish is in his third season in the NBA and is having a career-year. The 22-year-old wing is averaging 12.7 points (career-high), 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and is shooting career-highs in field-goal percentage (40.7%) and three-point shooting percentage (38.2%).
A lot of the attention this season in New York is on the fact that their defense is not as good as it was a season ago, but their offense is still a major problem. Nobody on their roster can be relied upon to hit big shots in big games right now and All-Star Julius Randle has been having a down-year.
Ranking just 20th in offensive rating and averaging 104.8 points per game (27th in the NBA), the Knicks really need to find ways to add some more scoring weapons to their roster, especially with Derrick Rose and Kemba Walker sidelined due to injuries.
While he would not be a franchise-altering talent, Cam Reddish is a young scorer on the wing that could provide depth and most importantly, be someone that the Knicks can build with moving forward.

Obi Toppin does present value moving forward as a young frontcourt piece, but the Knicks have not fully utilized him much with Randle, Robinson, Noel and Gibson all being in the frontcourt as well.
Moving Toppin for another offensive weapon, specifically on the wing, could be highly beneficial to this organization, but it is hard to imagine that they will get Atlanta to bite on this trade.
