New York Knicks Receive: F Cam Reddish
Atlanta Hawks Receive: F Obi Toppin, NYK 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected)

Trading Cam Reddish is not something that the Atlanta Hawks are going to do no matter what, but it does seem logical that he is on the trade block right now.

The young wing’s value is at an all-time high after some breakout performances this season and with the Hawks having a cap problem right now and moving forward, they are going to have to cut strings with some players.

Entering the final year of his contract next season, Reddish is a very likely candidate to see his string in Atlanta cut, but they are not going to just let him go for nothing.

The Hawks still believe that they are one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference at full-strength, which is why they are going to want some “win-now” pieces for him.

However, the New York Knicks do not really have this to offer up. They are not going to want to trade either R.J. Barrett or Alec Burks for Cam Reddish and acquiring a guard does no good for the Hawks, which is why Obi Toppin is one of the only players that they could theoretically trade away in this scenario.

Drafted 8th overall in 2020, Toppin has not played much for the Knicks, but has shown flashes of his full potential.

In his second season, the young forward is averaging 8.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and is shooting 53.2% from the floor.

With great athletic abilities and possessing great length, Obi Toppin is definitely someone who can make a difference for a franchise right now, but with the Hawks having John Collins and Clint Capela in their frontcourt, it is hard to say if he would have much of an impact in Atlanta right now.

The Knicks adding Cam Reddish for more scoring depth could be a move that pays off big-time for them, but at the same time, it is hard to imagine that they have exactly what the Hawks are looking for at this time.
