The Toronto Raptors are faring much better during the 2021-22 NBA season than people expected them to. Once they agreed to the sign-and-trade that sent Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat, many questioned whether the Raptors were going to begin a bit of a rebuild themselves.
If that was the route the organization went, they had some very attractive trade pieces. All-Star power forward Pascal Siakam would certainly fetch a lot on the trade market.
When the fourth pick in the 2021 NBA Draft was used on Scottie Barnes out of Florida State, who happens to play the same position as Siakam, teams placed calls gauging if Toronto would move him.
No deal was made, but another player people had their eyes on was Fred VanVleet. VanVleet had played well alongside Lowry and was now being given the keys to the car for the first time. He has played well as the go-to player in the backcourt, raising his value along the way.

In addition to those two players, OG Anunoby looks like a building block on the wing. At 24-years old, he fits the timeline of a team looking to win now or rebuilding.
Ultimately, the Raptors stayed pat and it looks to have been the right decision. Toronto is in a position where they can be aggressive and upgrade the roster now, or wait and still be competitive with a developing roster.
Regardless of which path they take, the team could use an upgrade in the middle. Here are three frontcourt players that the Raptors should target in a trade.
