Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
The thought of Philadelphia making this trade is a bit less realistic. However, when it comes down to it, this may be one of the best packages they get offered for Simmons, as his value continues to tank.
D’Angelo Russell may not be an All-Star, but he made the team as a part of the Brooklyn Nets a few years back. He’s still fully capable of taking over games when he needs to, and the Philadelphia 76ers could use that extra scoring punch.
Simmons was never a closer, and he might never be one. That same statement cannot be said about Russell. As he says himself, he has ice in his veins. He’d take a ton of pressure off of Joel Embiid at the end of games with his perimeter shooting and overall clutch gene.
The Sixers have begun to climb back up the standings, but it’s clear they aren’t the team they were last year. Losing an All-Star-caliber player will definitely tank a team’s record a bit.
