Would this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?
If this is what it takes to get Bradley Beal in a trade for the Atlanta Hawks, it makes plenty of sense to go for it. He’s the type of talent that can take needed pressure off Trae Young, especially come playoff time.
There has been a clear drop-off from Beal’s production this season compared to his lights out 2020-21 campaign that featured him going toe-to-toe with Stephen Curry for the NBA’s scoring title.
Over the last two seasons, Beal averaged over 30 points per game (PPG) and put up 31.3 PPG in his previous campaign. He’s down to 23.6 PPG to begin the season—partly due to taking fewer shots but also due to a sharp regression in perimeter shooting efficiency.
Beal may be dishing out a career-high 6.4 assists per game, but he’s shooting just 28.0% from beyond the arc. The decline in Beal’s execution as a shooter from deep has been perplexing, to say the least.

Even if Beal were to continue to struggle shooting the ball from distance, he is another dynamic threat that can run high ball screens or attack in isolation situations. Trae Young would need to be willing to play more off the ball to make it work.
