The Golden State Warriors have put together a highly impressive start to the 2021-22 season. The 28-7 record they have posted through 35 games is the best in the NBA. Soon, they are going to get Klay Thompson back into the lineup—making them all the more scary of a team.

It remains unclear when Thompson is going to make his return to the lineup in terms of an exact date. What is known is the intent to have him do it during a home game to be in front of Warriors fans.

Whenever Thompson does return, the Warriors will waste no time reintegrating him into the starting lineup—as stated by coach Steve Kerr.

“Klay’s gonna start when he comes back,” Kerr said. “I’m not gonna mess around, bring him off the bench or any of that.”

For Thompson to enter the starting lineup, someone will need to move to the bench. It appears as though the choice will come down to bringing Jordan Poole or Andrew Wiggins off the bench. From our perspective, Pool seems like the most logical choice.

The Warriors will not only become a more dynamic unit once again in the starting five, but they will have an even deeper bench with Poole likely taking on a sixth man role.

Thompson has been sidelined for the previous two full seasons. He last played during the 2019 NBA Finals where he suffered a torn ACL. During his recovery from that injury, he suffered a torn Achilles in an offseason open run right before the 2020 NBA Draft.

During the last season Klay Thompson was playing for the Golden State Warriors, he averaged an impressive 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 40.2% from beyond the arc on 7.7 attempts per game.

Having a player capable of such production on an already elite team will be fascinating to see. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are each playing at an incredible level while the team has no shortage of intriguing complementary talent in the supporting cast.
