Grading the Lakers
Trading Rajon Rondo and saving a little bit of money in luxury taxes is good for the Lakers, but the only thing they did in this trade was help the Cleveland Cavaliers. Maybe this was LeBron James’ way of giving a late Christmas gift to the city of Cleveland, but the Lakers still have a lot of problems to try and sort out.
The “Russell Westbrook Experiment” has not worked out 36 games into the season, Anthony Davis is out for the foreseeable future after a MCL sprain in his left knee and LeBron James does not have any help around him.
Los Angeles is a one-man team right now and acquiring Denzel Valentine only to waive him and possibly sign Stanley Johnson to a rest-of-the-year contract does not improve this team one bit.
People ask me all the time: “What can the Lakers do to get better?”

My answer every single time is that I have absolutely no clue!
Lakers’ general manager Rob Pelinka is going to have to do a lot more than pull a bunny out of a hat to turn things around in Los Angeles because right now, this team is on a collision course for the play-in tournament and very likely a first-round exit in the playoffs, should they even make the playoffs at this rate!
