Does this trade make sense for the LA Clippers?

Money is a big problem for the LA Clippers right now, but they have the richest owner in the entire NBA in Steve Ballmer and have never been afraid to spend money before!

Trading for Eric Gordon does not change much about this team’s financials this season, especially if they were to give up Eric Bledsoe in the process, but they would be adding $19.5M to their checkbooks for next season. 

With Serge Ibaka’s contract being up and the Clippers likely to move on from some contracts in the offseason, this is not a major concern for the Clippers, but something they do need to consider when weighing the pros and cons of going after Eric Gordon. 

Ultimately, this trade is worthwhile for the Los Angeles Clippers because of the fact that they get another two-way threat that can take on multiple different roles for this team. Gordon is still a factor defensively, as well as on offense, and brings a ton of playoff experience with him to a team looking to make it back to the Western Conference Finals.

Adding Gordon to this team would give them another double-digit scoring weapon that can either start or come off the bench, more than can be said about Eric Bledsoe right now given his inconsistent play. 

With Kawhi Leonard out indefinitely, the Clippers are going to need to make a move to add another scoring talent to their roster if they are to not only make the playoffs but get a good enough seed to where they can avoid playing the Warriors or Suns in the first round.
