The New York Knicks are one team set up well to make a blockbuster NBA trade. They are difficult to pull off during the season, and this season it will be even more complicated because of the issues teams are dealing with stemming from a surge in positive COVID-19 tests.

Leon Rose and Scott Perry have done a good job stockpiling assets. The front office and scouts have done an excellent job identifying players to select in the NBA Draft and haven’t sacrificed draft capital to do so.

Alas, the free-agent acquisitions that the team made this offseason haven’t panned out as hoped. The Knicks, after surprising everyone last season and earning the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, have struggled to find that consistency this season.

Kemba Walker was removed from the starting lineup and rotation for a three-week stretch. Evan Fournier has had some good stretches shooting the ball, but not enough to live up to the contract he signed.
