How This Trade Impacts Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets have been looking for a team to trade John Wall to for a while. Not surprisingly, his market has been ice cold as there just aren’t many teams interested in acquiring a player who is making $44.3 million this season and $47.4 next season.
The Rockets do not want to attach any assets to him either, whether it be a young player or draft capital. As a result, finding a taker for him is easier said than done. One way could be taking back a longer contract that is just a smaller total, such as in this deal with the LA Clippers.
Eric Bledsoe’s contract is only partially guaranteed for next season, so the Rockets can get out of it for a manageable amount. Serge Ibaka is on an expiring deal as well, clearing more cap space for the Rockets.
Given both of their contracts and the skill sets they bring, the Rockets may be able to find teams that would trade for them again.

Luke Kennard would likely be on the roster for a little longer, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Kennard is only 25-years old, so he is relatively close to the Rockets’ timeline. He is an elite 3-point shooter as well, something they could certainly use more of as they are 19th in the NBA in 3-point percentage.
If the Houston Rockets want to move on from Wall, they cannot be picky. If this deal came across, they would seriously consider pulling the trigger.
