The Atlanta Hawks made an incredible run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season after making a coaching change midseason and being 16-20 entering the All-Star break, but they have struggled to find their footing this NBA season because of injuries.

Trae Young and John Collins are continuing to play at a high-level, Young likely to make his second straight All-Star appearance as a result, but Onyeka Okongwu, Solomon Hill, De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic are all sidelined with various injuries.

Okongwu has yet to play this season due to offseason shoulder surgery, Hill is expected to be done for the year after suffering a hamstring tear, Hunter is out indefinitely after undergoing wrist surgery in November and Bogdanovic has been dealing with a sprained ankle that kept him out a while and then ultimately he ended up as one of the many players from this team in COVID protocol.

All of these injuries and names entering the COVID protocol continue to pile up for the Hawks, not only putting a lot of pressure on Trae Young, but putting this team’s playoff dreams in question. With limited cap space and players landing on the injury report every week, Atlanta is going to look to make some moves this NBA season and one of which could involve them trading away Cam Reddish.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Teams Inquiring About Cam Reddish Trade — What Hawks Would Want

Ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Hawks were interested in moving up into the lottery and there were talks of Cam Reddish being available.

The former 10th overall pick has been a really solid role player for the Hawks over the years and is getting better, but he only has one more year left on his rookie contract after this season and being eligible for a contract extension this upcoming offseason, Atlanta may not be able to afford to keep him long-term.

John Collins, Clint Capela, Kevin Huerter and Trae Young all recently got contract extensions and with De’Andre Hunter also eligible for an extension this upcoming offseason, Reddish could very well turn into the “odd-man-out” for this franchise, hence why they should be interested in trading him.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, rival teams have expressed interest in Cam Reddish over recent weeks and it is believed that the Hawks are wanting a first-round pick in return for him.

Having the potential to be a long-term “3-and-D” player in this league, multiple teams with playoff chances this season could show interest in Reddish, one of which is the Minnesota’s Timberwolves.

Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards make up one of the best scoring trios in the entire NBA, but the Timberwolves are going to be active in looking to add more overall talent to their roster ahead of the trade deadline this season.
