The Golden State Warriors are once again looking like the cream of the crop in the NBA. After missing the postseason two straight years, which followed five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, the Warriors look back to playing like the contending team.

They did an excellent job of upgrading the supporting cast in the offseason, bringing back Andre Iguodala while adding Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica to the roster. Younger players in Jordan Poole, Gary Payton II, and Juan Toscano-Anderson have also stepped up this season.

But, one of the key developments to the Warriors turning things around is Andrew Wiggins. Since being acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves, he is finally showcasing the talent that made him the No. 1 overall pick from the 2014 NBA Draft.

Wiggins is having the most efficient season of his career, making 48.7 percent of his shot attempts. He has found his 3-point shooting stroke with the Warriors, knocking down 42.5 percent of his 3-pointers this season. That would be a new career-high, surpassing the 38 percent that he shot last season.

Wiggins morphing into the two-way wing player that the Timberwolves envisioned he could be has been a big help for the Warriors. His emergence has helped keep the team afloat as they await the return of Klay Thompson.

Recently, Iguodala spoke about what makes Wiggins such an underrated player. He also revealed that a conversation that he had with Jimmy Butler during his time with the Miami Heat is what made him appreciate Wiggins even more.

“That was all I needed to hear to be honest, because Jimmy doesn’t like anybody,” Iguodala continued. “So when Jimmy said he liked Wiggs, I kind of started looking at it different.”

On the season, Andrew Wiggins is averaging 18.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 31.1 minutes per game. There were some rumors in the offseason that he could be made the centerpiece of a package to make a blockbuster deal, but that no longer looks to be the course of action.
