The Dallas Mavericks have added a point guard to the roster that has added a lot of intrigue for the fans. Isaiah Thomas has agreed to terms on a 10-day deal with the Mavs after his previous 10-day deal with the Los Angeles Lakers ended. Fans are hoping to see Thomas come in and be an impact player for the lineup.

Over the last few months, the Mavericks have been searching to find a secondary ball-handler to compliment Luka Doncic. A few years ago, Thomas would have been a very intriguing addition. However, he has struggled recently and has had injury issues that has slowed him down quite a bit.

Despite any negatives that could be brought up, this is still an interesting move. Thomas still has a very large fan base and that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

One NBA executive shared their reaction to the news of Thomas signing with the Mavericks in a quote to NBA Analysis Network.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Hawks Face Big Decision In Regards To Cam Reddish’s Future

“Last few stops have looked rough for IT. He just hasn’t been able to shoot it well and everyone knows what he lacks on defense with his size. Perhaps a longer stint with a team can help him with finding a rhythm. Dallas needs more players that can create off the bounce. If it pans out, he’s a nice bench piece that makes it easier to start Brunson next to Luka regularly.”

During his four-game stint with the Lakers this season that saw him start in one of those appearances, Thomas wasn’t awful. He averaged 9.3 points and 1.5 assists. Thomas shot just 30.8 percent from the floor overall and 22.7 percent from the three-point line, which certainly isn’t going to cut it.

At 32 years of age, Thomas is running out of chances to prove that he still has good basketball left in the tank. If he can put together a good stint with the Mavericks, he will have a chance to latch on for the remainder of the season. Dallas might be the most point guard needy team in the league as they look to take pressure off of Doncic.

It will be interesting to see what Thomas is able to provide the Mavericks. He showed some flashes with the Lakers, but it wasn’t enough for Los Angeles to keep him around.

Make sure to stay tune to see what version of Isaiah Thomas the Mavericks get. At the very least, this is an intriguing fit and will provide some entertaining for fans in Dallas in the coming days.
