How This Trade Impacts Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons love Jerami Grant and he loves them. There was a lot that Grant liked about the organization, which is why he signed with them as a free agent despite the Denver Nuggets offering a similar amount of money.
But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. For the Pistons and Grant, their time together should be close to ending.
The Pistons are going nowhere fast, so they aren’t in a position to sign Grant to the big contract he will be seeking. The trade and contract the Nuggets worked out with Aaron Gordon last season is similar to what Grant will be looking to do.
Given how much interest there is in Grant, the Pistons are going to land a solid return package and this one from the New York Knicks is just that.

Kemba Walker has returned to the lineup with a vengeance and would provide the Pistons with a go-to offensive weapon to help ease the burden on the younger players. He could fill a similar role to the one Derrick Rose did before the Knicks acquired him in a trade last season.
Obi Toppin is breaking out this season despite limited minutes. He has earned a bigger role and the Pistons would provide him that. Watching him run in the frontcourt alongside Isaiah Stewart and Saddiq Bey with Cade Cunningham in the backcourt would at least make the Pistons fun to watch.
Kevin Knox II showed that he is capable of providing good minutes when given the chance. With the Knicks decimated by players in health and safety protocols, Knox stepped into the lineup and showed his floor spacing capabilities.
