Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
The Indiana Pacers have many different problems to fix on their roster and one move at the trade deadline is not going to drastically change things for their roster. However, they do need to make a big move to try and remain relevant in the Eastern Conference.
Trading for Gordon Hayward would allow the Pacers to avoid having to go through some type of a rebuild, but most importantly, he would fill a major void on the wing and at both forward positions for this team.
With T.J. Warren being out, Indiana has been very thin in terms of reliable talents on the wing and Domantas Sabonis has really been the only guy who can play the power-forward position without this team going extremely small.
Myles Turner is expendable at this point given that they do not utilize him much and with just one year left on his contract, it would be smart for Indiana to look to trade him right now while his value is at an all-time high.

Maybe Gordon Hayward is not the best talent the Pacers can try to go after, but pairing him with Brogdon, LeVert and Sabonis gives the Indiana Pacers four really talented offensive players. After making this deal, their only problem left unsolved would be their depth and secondary talents, but that is a much easier problem to fix compared to adding more star-power.
Hayward is a former All-Star player and one of the better combo-forwards in the entire league, which is why he is definitely someone the Pacers should have on their wish-list right now. Convincing Charlotte to give him up could be tough to do, but they could possibly do so by leveraging Myles Turner right now.
The Indiana Pacers would get out of Lamb’s contract in this trade, add another key scoring weapon in Hayward and add some future draft value as well, which is why this trade would make sense for them.
