Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?

At the end of the day, the New York Knicks are going to have to make a decision based on what is more important to them. They could settle with the roster they currently have and try to keep building for the future with young talents in their system, or they could look to make a win-now move by targeting Eric Gordon. 

Bringing in the veteran shooting guard certainly would not hurt them in any way given his production this season and Gordon would give the Knicks another reliable scorer next to Julius Randle. 

Kemba Walker has been playing well as of late though and with Derrick Rose out after having ankle surgery, this trade could wind up leaving the Knicks thin in terms of backcourt production.

Immanuel Quickley has played well and would still be around and with the Knicks playing primarily through Julius Randle being one of their primary ball-handlers, maybe moving Walker would not be such a bad idea, especially if they can get a contributing, consistent veteran like Eric Gordon.

This is definitely not the best trade the Knicks could make and getting rid of Quentin Grimes so soon in his career could come back to hurt New York long-term, but this franchise needs to make some kind of a move.

They are nothing more than a borderline .500 team right now and for New York to make it back to the playoffs, they will need a little bit more consistency in their rotations. Eric Gordon can supply them with this, which is why he is a worthy trade target for this team.
