How This Trade Impacts Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves do not want to part ways with Karl-Anthony Towns. He is the best player the franchise has had since Kevin Garnett, and he wants to remain with the organization. But, if they were going to move him, this is an excellent deal for them.

Ben Simmons is someone they have been looking into acquiring all offseason. While they would prefer to pair him up with Towns, retaining D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards provides Minnesota with the offensive firepower you need to surround Simmons with so he can succeed.

They are receiving an All-Star level player in Simmons that has another level he can get to. If he can unlock his potential, he will be one of the top-five players in the NBA. Wiseman has a long way to go before reaching Towns’ level, but he has immense potential as well. There was a reason he was selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft despite barely playing collegiately.

The draft picks heading their way from Golden State are also a good get. They will give Minnesota a chance to add more young talent to the roster or assets to bolster trade packages with.
