The LA Clippers were blown out by the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, 116-92. While it was a frustrating loss for the team, the most important takeaway was that their best player, Paul George, returned to the court.

George had missed the previous five games because of a sprained ligament in his right elbow. The Clippers had handled things well at the start, as they won the first three games that George didn’t play in, but they are now riding a three-game losing streak.

While the box score was ugly, George had a solid game himself. He didn’t look like someone who last played on December 6th, scoring a game-high 25 points on 8-of-18 from the field, 3-of-9 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the foul line. He also pulled down six rebounds to go with six assists and three steals.

It was an impressive return for George, but the question now is if he can remain on the court. Following the game, he was asked if the injury he suffered would cause him to miss any more games or require more treatment. He said that he wasn’t sure and they’d have to see how he felt the next day.

“It took some hits today, couple stingers,” George said. “We’ll see how it feels tomorrow, not sure it will be sore or not. See how it feels in the morning.”

LA is hopeful that they can have Paul George remain in the lineup as they would more than likely sink in the standings if he were to miss an extended period of time. Already without their other superstar, Kawhi Leonard, they cannot afford to be without George as well.

In addition to Leonard, the Clippers are currently without Marcus Morris Sr. and Isaiah Hartenstein. Point guard Reggie Jackson is battling through a quad injury right now as well.

The LA Clippers will be back at it against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night before having a mini-break for the holiday.
