Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
At this point, hitting the “reset button” is the only thing that can make things better moving forward for the Indiana Pacers.
Unless they are miraculously able to flip guys like Caris LeVert and Myles Turner for an All-Star and/or All-NBA performer, this team is not going to make the playoffs and their future is looking very bleak given their lack of future assets.
The Pacers have had a strong looking team roster-wise through the years, but bad luck and injuries have really cost them any chances of being great.
Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon could still be the focal points of this team moving forward, but given the value they can get in a trade involving Sabonis, it is definitely more beneficial for the Pacers to try and leverage their All-Star big man now.

The Knicks would be offering three young assets in this trade in Knox, Robinson, and Toppin, as well as a former All-Star in Kemba Walker and a first-round draft pick, but is this the best value the Pacers can do in a trade involving Domantas Sabonis?
Kevin Knox is nothing more than a “plug-and-play” guy on the wing that is in the final year of his rookie contract, Mitchell Robinson is in the final year of his rookie contract and there are a ton of questions surrounding the effectiveness and efficiency of Kemba Walker.
Obi Toppin could immediately slide into the starting rotation in place of Sabonis and he would definitely find success in his new role with the Pacers, but the rest of this trade just seems like a big liability and burden for Indiana.
Maybe they can find some value with Knox that the Knicks could not and maybe Walker does end up playing better in a reserve, bench role, but this is not the best trade the Pacers could get for Sabonis.

There will be teams offering up multiple first-round picks and young talents who can make an impact instead of possibly making an impact, which is why if the Pacers even try to trade Domantas Sabonis, it will likely be to another team not named the Knicks unless they are willing to offer up either Immanuel Quickley or R.J. Barrett instead of guys like Mitchell Robinson and Kevin Knox.
