Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
If the Portland Trail Blazers were faced with the unfortunate situation of having to trade Damian Lillard at some point, the Philadelphia 76ers have an intriguing trade package to offer.
Simmons would not be asked to be the focal point or the No. 1 scoring option and could even slot in as a point forward with Tyrese Maxey playing the point guard role. With that being said, the Trail Blazers would have to have a plan if they acquire Simmons.
It is clear that Simmons is not much of a scoring threat within the half-court but he can handle the ball and play elite defense. There are some ways to work him into the offensive plan and this includes a potential position change.
Maxey is an intriguing part of this deal because of the work he has done in year two. He has been asked to play an extended role and has done well. Maxey has shown that he has a chance to be a starting guard and could play in that role for another team. Portland would be a good landing spot as he continues to improve and grow.

The Portland Trail Blazers have not been able to find success in the postseason. This could lead the front office to make a decision to blow it up. If that is the case, Lillard seems like the clear choice to send away because of the return that he would warrant.
