Once LeBron James came to town, the Los Angeles Lakers were taken to the next level. This gave the front office motivation to go out and put some more stores around him, which they have done. They still may not give them a star but it gives them a prospect down low.
Bamba is a former lottery pick that has not been able to remain on the floor. He has struggled with injuries and this has significantly impacted his development. He has shown some intriguing flashes though, whether it be his shot blocking or perimeter shooting potential.
As he searches for a new contract, the Magic can use him as a trade piece. If there is one place for a young player to develop, it is Los Angeles.
Bamba would have a chance to learn from Davis, who remains one of the best big men in the league. This could add some more depth for Los Angeles and give them a player with a high ceiling.

This is not to say that Bamba is a huge addition for Los Angeles or that he would help them win another championship but he could provide a spark if he reaches his potential. This is something that he could learn to do as a member of the Lakers.
