Does this trade make sense for the Miami Heat?

Seeing as KZ Okpala is in the final year of his contract and likely someone the Miami Heat will not look to keep long-term, there is no reason why they should not want to make this trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Kenrich Williams has proven that he can be effective in many different ways and he is another perimeter shooting threat the Heat can add to their roster. Currently ranking 8th in the league in three-point shooting percentage, this team would only get better with Williams being on their roster.

Plus, the Heat would be getting a second-round pick from Oklahoma City in this trade. What pick and where it ends up is yet to be determined because of other trades the Thunder have made involving this pick, but it is extra draft value coming to Miami.

This second-round pick Oklahoma City acquired from Washington was originally traded to New Orleans, then to Oklahoma City, then the Thunder leveraged it in the Kemba Walker-Al Horford trade this past offseason.

Right now, OKC still owns the rights to the original Washington second-round pick in 2023, but they will either receive the least favorable of A) Thunder 2023 2nd Round pick, B) Wizards 2023 2nd Round pick, C) More favorable of Heat/Mavericks pick.

Things can get very confusing here of what the Thunder actually own, but they could trade this second-round “swap” to Miami to give them a second-rounder along with Kenrich Williams.

Ultimately, the Heat would probably have to send KZ Okpala and a second-rounder to the Thunder for Kenrich Williams, but overall, this is a trade that the Heat should pursue.
