Would this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?

The foundation of the Brooklyn Nets team was to have three superstars on the perimeter who can overwhelm the opposition with their talent. Right now, Kevin Durant and James Harden are getting the job done without Kyrie Irving but could use more help in some areas.

Had this been a trade scenario evaluated at the start of the season, it would likely be an emphatic no for the Nets. Kristaps Porzingis was coming off a poor playoff outing while Jalen Brunson wasn’t so hot in his own right.

The Nets could slot Brunson in at the point guard spot in the starting unit or coming off the bench while Porzingis could fill the starting center role. His ability to get to the rim could be of intrigue.

Porzingis’ shooting ability would make guarding Kevin Durant and James Harden all the more daunting of a task within the half-court. His length could add a helpful shot blocking element for the Nets to funnel dribble penetration to throughout games.

There is also clearly the option for the Nets to just wait out the situation or allow Irving to be a ‘part-time’ player. The team has no shortage of upcoming road games and could use as many players as possible available, especially a star with James Harden in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
