This Kings-Rockets Trade Lands Marvin Bagley III In Houston

Marvin Bagley III was drafted second overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, but his time in Sacramento may be coming to an end.

After looking to move him at the NBA trade deadline last year, as well as this past offseason, the Kings held onto their young forward and declined to offer him a contract extension prior to the start of this season.

Not offering a long-term extension was not too surprising, as Bagley has missed close to 50% of the Kings’ total games since entering the league, but both he and his management seem to be fed up with this organization’s antics, especially after they elected to bench the former top pick to begin the year.

In a statement released prior to the start of the Kings’ regular season opener by Excel Sports Management, Bagley’s agent Jeff Schwartz said the following in regards to his client’s situation with the Kings:

“Sacramento has informed Marvin Bagley he is not in the opening night rotation, which is completely baffling. It’s clear they have no plans for him in the future, and yet, passed on potential deals at last year’s deadline and this summer based on “value”. Instead, they chose to bring him back but not play him, a move completely contradictory to their “value” argument. This is a case study in mismanagement by the Kings organization.”
