This Pacers-Cavaliers Trade Sends Caris LeVert To Cleveland

Currently 14-12 on the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a sneaky good team in the NBA this year. Losing Collin Sexton to a meniscus tear in his left knee definitely hurts this franchise, but this young Cavaliers team has exceeded expectations early on in the season and they are only going to get better as time goes on.

Obviously, their length is a key talking point for this team, as only six players on their roster stand below 6’6”, but one of the main reasons why this team is as good as they are is because of how they have bought in defensively.

Cleveland currently sits fourth in the league in defensive rating and they are only allowing 102.0 points per game to their opponents, the second-best mark in the NBA. Evan Mobley (2.0 blocks per game) and Jarrett Allen (1.3 blocks per game) are their anchors in the frontcourt, but overall, this whole team moves so well together on the defensive end of the floor.

Their main problem right now and one that could hold them back from sneaking into the playoffs though is their offense. The Cavaliers play at a very slow pace and without their best scoring weapon in Collin Sexton, they are going to continue to search for answers outside of Darius Garland and their bigs on offense.

Either someone else is going to have to step up on this roster, or the Cavs will have to look to another impactful offensive talent on the trade block. Having little room to bring in a large contract, the Cavaliers’ options are limited, but they also do have some moveable contracts that they could leverage.

Starting their season 11-16, the Indiana Pacers do not look like a playoff threat anymore and could be on the verge of a full-scale rebuild.

Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Pacers are moving towards rebuilding and as a result, not only will they listen to offers for Myles Turner and All-Star Domantas Sabonis, but Caris LeVert as well.

Since joining the Pacers last season, LeVert has averaged 18.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and has shot 43.7% from the floor. He is not much of a three-point shooting threat, but Caris LeVert is exactly the kind of slashing shooting guard this team needs next to Darius Garland right now.

It would not be easy and the Cavaliers would have to be willing to sacrifice some of their young talents to do so, but there is a way that this team can acquire Caris LeVert from the Indiana Pacers ahead of the trade deadline.
