While they are currently riding a 7-game win streak, the longest active win streak in the NBA, the Houston Rockets are a rebuilding franchise that is not going to be making the playoffs anytime soon.

Jalen Green, Jae’Sean Tate, and Kevin Porter Jr. are just some of the young core pieces on this roster that are playing big roles in their rebuild, but so is big man Christian Wood. Houston signed Wood to a three-year, $41M deal ahead of last season and he ended up being a diamond in the rough for them.

In 41 games for the Rockets last season, Christian Wood averaged 21.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, and shot 51.4% from the floor, making him one of the breakout performers of the 2020-21 season. He is currently the Rockets’ best player and their leading scorer, but recent reports have said that the team will listen to offers for their big man.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon stated on ‘The Lowe Post’ recently that he gets the sense that the Rockets are not trying to actively move Christian Wood, but they are willing to listen to offers for him.

The Houston Rockets are expected to be quite busy near the trade deadline not in terms of adding talent to their roster, but leveraging some of their larger contracts and veteran players. John Wall, Eric Gordon, D.J. Augustin and Danuel House Jr. are all players that could be on the move in the coming months, but Christian Wood remains the key talking point on the Rockets’ roster.

Again, they are not actively looking to trade him, but the Minnesota Timberwolves could look to put together an intriguing offer for the 26-years-old big man.

Having Karl-Anthony Towns as their only productive player in their frontcourt, the Timberwolves have a need for someone like Wood, hence their potential interest.

Currently 11-14 in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves are by no means a lock to make the playoffs, but they look improved from a season ago and have one of the better scoring trios in the league with D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Could Minnesota take this opportunity to form one of the league’s only “Big 4” with Towns, Edwards, Russell, and now Christian Wood? Let’s take a look at what they could offer up to Houston.
