Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

Heading towards a rebuild, the Indiana Pacers should definitely have interest in trading someone like Caris LeVert away, even though they just acquired him last season. LeVert is only 27-years-old and someone the Pacers could look to rebuild with, but at the same time, he holds a fair amount of value on the trade market right now and this trade gives Indiana too much value to turn down.

Both Cam Reddish and Jalen Johnson would be core young talents that this team could mold into whatever they wanted them to be and the Indiana Pacers would be acquiring a valuable first-round pick from the Atlanta Hawks.

Oklahoma City’s 2022 first-round pick that they would be acquiring from Atlanta is Top-14 Protected this season, so the Thunder would likely keep this pick, but the Pacers would then get Oklahoma City’s 2024 and 2025 2nd Round Picks.

This is not a lot of value compared to getting a 2022 first-round pick, but it is fair compensation given that they would be receiving two first-round picks in Reddish and Johnson.

Delon Wright is a veteran in the final year of his contract that does not present much of a future to the Indiana Pacers, but with T.J. McConnell likely out almost the rest of the season with a wrist injury, this team needs another guard in their backcourt.

Other teams in the league may not be willing to offer up two former first-round picks like the Hawks would be in this trade, which is why this deal may be worthwhile for the Indiana Pacers to make.

Cam Reddish and Jalen Johnson are two young and athletic players that provide depth on the wing, something the Pacers do not have much of right now. Taking value that is presented to them is probably the best thing the Pacers can do for themselves right now, which is why this trade with the Hawks is favorable for them moving forward.
