2. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are beginning to come back down to Earth. Their early-season success, as they started the season 9-4, was always going to be tough to sustain because the numbers didn’t back it up. Numbers never lie, as the Mavericks have lost seven of their last nine games played.

Coming into the season the one thing the Dallas Mavericks were looking to acquire but failed to do so was a secondary ball-handler. They have one on the roster in Jalen Brunson, but moving him into the starting lineup alongside Luka Doncic decimates the team’s second unit. It is just not a feasible long-term move for Jason Kidd to make.

So, Dallas could look outside the organization for some help via trade. Russell Westbrook would present an interesting target.

Westbrook is the secondary ball-handler that the team has been looking for. His presence would enable Doncic to play off the ball more, which should create some easier scoring opportunities for him. The Dallas Mavericks’ offense has tanked this season and Doncic’s inefficient shooting is a major reason why.

Having someone around that can help take the pressure off of him would make sense. Westbrook could also be the focal point of the attack whenever he is out of the game resting, providing Dallas with another person who can constantly put pressure on the defense.
