The Minnesota Timberwolves have bounced back well from their 1-8 stretch earlier in the NBA season. They have lost their last two games to the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets but had won seven of their previous eight games to get right back into the thick of things in the Western Conference.

The playoff picture in the Western Conference is a congested one. Minnesota is 11-12 and in ninth place, but only two games behind the fourth-place Memphis Grizzlies for home-court advantage in a first-round playoff series.

So, it should come as no surprise that Timberwolves brass is hoping to make a push for the postseason. They have one playoff appearance since Kevin Garnett left and would like to change that trend, becoming a more consistent playoff contender.

The team has the pieces to grow into one. Karl-Anthony Towns is arguably the best offensive center in the NBA. Anthony Edwards continues to grow after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. D’Angelo Russell has turned into a solid defender but needs to re-find his game offensively.

Minnesota brought in Patrick Beverley to help set the tone as a veteran leader and his presence has helped. The team is 8th in defensive rating in the NBA according to Basketball-Reference, but only 22nd in offensive rating.

They could look outside the organization for some help. On a recent episode of The Jon Krawczynski Show, it was revealed that Myles Turner is someone that the Minnesota Timberwolves have an interest in acquiring.

“The Timberwolves are also looking at the trade market, in attempt to buoy a playoff push. One player Minnesota appears to have interest in is Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.”

Turner is having a good season for the Indiana Pacers. He is having the best shooting season of his career, making 52.9 percent of his shot attempts and 40.5 percent of his 3-point attempts. He has improved the number of 3-pointers made per game every season in his career and it is a trend he is continuing this season.

In addition to the improved shooting, he is also grabbing a career-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Turner remains an elite rim protector, leading the league once again with 2.8 blocks per game. This would be the third time in four seasons that Turner led the NBA in blocked shots should he continue on this pace.

Questions would arise about whether or not the two could co-exist in the same frontcourt. But, their skill sets don’t overlap much, so it should work out in the long run.
