3. John Wall
John Wall just isn’t playing for the Houston Rockets. This is not because of an injury or holding out because of a trade request.
In fact, Wall has told the team that he wants to play but the Rockets do not seem interested. Why? This is a rebuilding team that needs that spot open so they can look at players for the future. Wall is a huge trade piece that the New York Knicks could target.
It feels like John Wall is older than he is because of injuries but he is 31 years old. In 40 games for Houston last season, Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists per contest. He proved that there is plenty left in the tank and if healthy, can produce right away. The issue remains his contract situation.
Wall is earning $44.3 million this season and is set to make $47.3 million next year, which is the final one of his contract. New York would have to make it work financially but have plenty of assets to trade.

Of course, the return would have to begin with Walker. It is looking like his short stint with the Knicks could be over before it starts and this is where the franchise might want to find a replacement.
The Knicks have been linked to some big-name point guards and it will be interesting to see if they can close the deal on any — or if they are actively looking. If so, John Wall remains a target because of the Rockets’ need to move him as soon as possible.
