De’Aaron Fox – Sacramento Kings

He is not on the trade block and never has been in Sacramento, but De’Aaron Fox is an All-Star-like guard who always seems to come up in trade talks.

Most of this is because the Kings just cannot help themselves when it comes to trading their best players, but a large part of this is because the Kings are one of the most unsuccessful franchises in the entire league.

They have not made the playoffs since 2006 and quite frankly, that is not going to change this year. De’Aaron Fox is the only star-level player on this Kings’ roster, hence why they could always be interested in hearing out what teams are offering for him.

Since being drafted 5th overall in 2017 by the Kings, De’Aaron Fox has averaged 18.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.4 steals and has shot 45.6% from the floor. He is not much of a three-point shooting threat, but Fox is one of the most athletic and explosive guards in the league.

Turning 24 on December 20, De’Aaron Fox checks off all the boxes for being the “face of a franchise” in this league, hence why he always draws a ton of interest across the NBA.

The Kings were unwilling to include him in any trade proposals for 76ers’ star Ben Simmons this offseason and this trend is going to continue.

Sacramento would have to get one of the best players in the NBA for them to trade De’Aaron Fox and it does not seem like they are interested in moving him whatsoever after signing a five-year, $163M deal last November.

Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III and Harrison Barnes are players that the Kings will be interested in trading before they even give thought to giving up De’Aaron Fox, which is why he is not going to be leaving Sacramento this season.

The idea of trading him is definitely something one could ponder about, especially since the team recently drafted both Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell, but giving up De’Aaron Fox just sets the Kings back even farther than they already are in their rebuilding process.
