2. Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are still trying to figure things out when it comes to Ben Simmons. They still want him to return to the team and play for them, but it is anyone’s guess as to when, or if, that ever happens.
Simmons remains away from the team, but the organization could need to make a deal sooner than later to get the team going again. Players being sidelined derailed what was one of the best starts in the NBA, as Philadelphia opened the season 8-2 and first place in the Eastern Conference.
Since then, they had multiple players sidelined whether it was for an injury or entering the league’s health and safety protocols. Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle and Danny Green have all missed some, some of which overlapped with each other. Tyrese Maxey and Georges Niang are the only two players to appear in all 22 games thus far this season.
Acquiring someone such as Kyrie Irving could provide Daryl Morey with exactly what he is looking for. He wants All-Star caliber players in return for Simmons and Irving would be that. Irving and Embiid would become one of the best duos in the NBA should they be paired together.

There have also been rumblings that the Philadelphia 76ers are going to be suitors for James Harden this offseason. They are going to have negotiations with the Brooklyn Nets in either scenario, might as well start with Irving and see how things go. Philadelphia could have the pieces to land Irving without parting ways with Simmons.
