Does this trade make sense for the Denver Nuggets?

All of the Denver Nuggets’ injuries have left them shorthanded at many different positions and while they have a solid amount of depth in their backcourt, adding Kemba Walker would be a really good move for this team.

Maybe he would not see more time than he has in New York this season, but you know that you are going to get some scoring and primary facilitating from Kemba Walker, which is more than can be said about guys like Monte Morris, Facundo Campazzo and others.

All of Denver’s guards have played really well this season given the circumstances they are in without Jamal Murray, but can the team really contend for a championship with Monte Morris as their starting point guard?

He is a great secondary guard, but by adding Kemba Walker to this team, the Nuggets would be helping alleviate some pressure off the back of Nikola Jokic, as well as give him another weapon to play with.

Kemba Walker has shot 41.3% from three-point range on the season, so maybe he could actually thrive as a spot-up shooter on the wing next to Will Barton since Jokic is this team’s primary facilitator and ball-handler.

Having that “off-ball” guard that can either catch-and-shoot or get to the rim and create space for everyone else could bring a new dynamic to this Nuggets team that really does not have much of an identity on offense other than getting Nikola Jokic the basketball.

JaMychal Green is definitely a key veteran in the frontcourt that can still contribute and play his role well in pick-and-roll situations, but again, the Nuggets can get away with moving him. Zeke Nnaji is a young talent they are high on and having Jeff Green as well, Denver does not need Green to be successful moving forward.

They do not need Kemba Walker either, but adding him gives them yet another high-level talent that they can depend on for some production when guys like Jokic and Barton are out of the game.

Losing Michael Porter Jr. for the season takes away one of the Denver Nuggets best scoring and shooting threats on the perimeter, which is why they really need to try and find a way to replicate his production.
