Terence Davis – Sacramento Kings

After firing Luke Walton, the Sacramento Kings are one step closer to missing the playoffs for the 16th consecutive season. Moving on from Walton is something that was foreshadowed entering the year, but in doing so, Sacramento does not really increase their chances of ending their long playoff drought this year.

Guys like De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes are all really strong talents on this roster, but their second-unit is terrible and they just do not have the talent that other teams in the Western Conference have.

There is a chance that they could sneak into the play-in tournament and who knows, maybe they can rally for a playoff spot then, but overall, this team is not built to make the playoffs and they will likely be “sellers” at the trade deadline.

Along with Marvin Bagley III and Buddy Hield, Terence Davis has a chance to hit the trade market for the Kings and he could be an appealing target for the Lakers. At 24-years-old, Davis is a young wing that has been viewed to be an offensive weapon off-the-bench, but he has struggled so far this season.

In 11 games, Davis is averaging 4.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and is shooting just 31.7% from the floor, 23.1% from three-point range.

Los Angeles has enough offensive problems at the moment and the last thing they need to do is bring in a guy who is struggling on offense! Being owed $4M this season and then $4M next season, the risk that comes with trading for Terence Davis just does not make sense for the Lakers, especially since they would have to try and find a way to match his contract over the next two years.

While he is a cheaper option for Los Angeles to pursue, there is not much of an upside trading for the Kings’ wing. At that point, the Lakers are better off just keeping what they have.
