Does this trade make sense for the LA Clippers?

Kawhi Leonard is not going to be back anytime soon for the LA Clippers and while Paul George has led them to a strong start, this roster could highly benefit from having more versatile, athletic players on the wing.

Marcus Morris Sr. has been out lately and with guys like Nic Batum and Terance Mann also dealing with some nagging injuries, it could be in the Clippers’ best interest to add a cheap wing rather quickly.

Josh Jackson is not the difference in them making it back to the Western Conference Finals, but he is a really solid young talent that has turned his career around with the Pistons. Drafted 4th overall by the Suns in 2017, Jackson was thought to be out of the league following an off-year with the Grizzlies during the 2019-20 season, but then the Pistons gave him one last shot.

He averaged 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and shot 41.9% from the floor last year primarily off-the-bench with Detroit and now, Josh Jackson seems to be a trade target of multiple playoff threats around the league.

Being owed just $5M in the final year of his contract and having the ability to get to the rim on offense, he is definitely a valuable forward that could make a positive difference for the Clippers because of his ability to slash towards the paint from the perimeter.

Paul George is this team’s primary facilitator and with his passing abilities, Jackson could be on the receiving end of a bunch of backdoor passes. Being a key bench talent, the Clippers could use him to help push the pace of play, as well as help open up the floor a little more for guys like Geroge and Jackson to do their thing offensively.

At now real cost to them because of their trade exception, the LA Clippers should definitely be interested in “third-wheeling” this trade between the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons.
