Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Thaddeus Young
San Antonio Spurs Receive: F Joe Harris, F James Johnson, 2022 Second-Round Pick

In this hypothetical deal, the San Antonio Spurs pull the trigger on a deal that involves Thaddeus Young. It would be the second time this offseason that Young is traded, as he would be heading to the Northeast to the Brooklyn Nets.

Heading to Brooklyn along with Thaddeus Young, who previously was a member of the franchise before ultimately finding his way to the Indiana Pacers via trade.

Heading back to San Antonio would be Joe Harris, James Johnson, and two future second-round picks. Attaching one of their young players in Walker, along with Young, would be tough to imagine the Spurs doing, even with the second-round picks coming back.

Young should be able to fetch San Antonio a solid return package on his own. In this deal, they are taking on long-term money in Harris. Harris would help the team’s 3-point shooting and modernize the offense, but he disappeared when the team needed him most in the postseason.

Johnson is another veteran that would essentially take the role over that Young would have had with the Spurs. He is a solid defender with some playmaking skills but doesn’t offer the offensive spark that Young would.

The Spurs are certainly hesitant to do a deal like this. Do the Nets have a similar feeling? Let’s take a look at it from their perspective.
