After making a miracle run to the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago, the Atlanta Hawks have not found much success to begin the 2021-22 NBA season. Atlanta is just 6-9 right now and they have some big problems to figure out on the defensive end of the floor.

They were not the best defensive team in the league a year ago, but the Hawks were not terrible either. So far this year, they have been terrible defensively and currently rank 28th in the league in defensive rating.

Slow starts by Kevin Huerter, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari have also not helped the cause for the Hawks this season, which is why they could be primed to make a huge move ahead of the trade deadline.

Trae Young is the only All-Star talent on this roster right now and with the Nets, Bucks and Heat all having All-Star trios on their rosters, Atlanta may have to get Young another high-level talent to play alongside if they are to be a real title threat.

Not many All-Stars are available via trade right now, but Karl-Anthony Towns is definitely a name worth keeping an eye on.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made some moves to improve their roster this past offseason, but Minnesota still does not look like a real playoff team in the Western Conference.

Now in his 7th season with the Timberwolves, the clock is ticking for Karl-Anthony Towns and his frustrations of constantly losing could end up boiling over at some point this year. After all, Towns is 26-years-old and entering the prime of his career.

Being one of the best scoring big men in the league and the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves, it is hard to imagine that they would want to trade him and while Towns has said multiple times that he wants to remain in Minnesota long-term, this mindset could change after one long losing streak during the year.

Could the Atlanta Hawks swoop in and look to trade for one of the best big men in the league in Karl-Anthony Towns this season? Let’s take a look at a proposed trade from Bleacher Report’s NBA Staff that involves the Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves being a part of a blockbuster deal this NBA season.
